Introduction

The title above is certainly not a very real sense, "Breed The King" is a phrase for freshwater fish named Symphysodon or better known as Discus. Discus is a type of fish that live in fresh water. Discus the origin comes from the South American mainland in the Amazon River. Discus word itself comes from the disc, because this fish has a round shape like a disc. Along the river's diverse life Discus wild species that have exotic colors and charming. Therefore Discus gestures have a calm and graceful, and has a charisma that is hard to describe with words, the Discus is often referred to as The King of Freshwater Fish. Many variations of Discus in the world, all colors and shades almost there, because the hybridization results of different types. Except maybe black Discus. I've found it at a time, when my Discus was Sick. But, not closed the possibility, that one day there will be a kind of Black Discus with Red Colored eyes,,, so cool right?

Water temperature

Discus usually live in water that has a water temperature of 26 - 30 degrees Celsius, they rarely stand in the cold. So if you are in areas that have cold temperatures, and want to keep Discus, you must set up an automatic heater that can set the temperature.
If you keep Discus outdoors, you should give the heater in the tank, because the temperature outside is very easy to change and different, especially during the rainy season. Temperatures are warm and stable, allowing Discus can grow well and will give satisfaction to the owner.

Changing Water

Changing the water is usually done every day to drain feces Discus. These things absolutely must be done by you as the owner. I normally change the water as much as 20% every day, and on Sunday I change the water as much as 80%. If you want to change the water, you should pay attention when the water temperature before it is replaced, try the temperature at which water is added the same or slightly warmer. Because the water from my well is less oxygen, so if I would change the water, the mining of all I would enlarge the bubbles of oxygen from the water pump, so that the incoming water will get enough oxygen, so that Discus are not starved of oxygen for breathing.

PH

PH is the acidity of water, usually ranging between 0 - 14. Discus are usually able to live at Neutral pH is 6.8 - 7.2. I use water directly from wells and never measure the pH of the water. But perhaps because it is used, then my Discus remain in good health.

Food

Food for Discus that I use is frozen blood worms and Tetrabits, special products for Discus. Discus feeding enough 3 times a day. Most feed Dsicus will cause stomach to be bloated and difficult to digest and will certainly make Discus difficult to defecate.

How to Maintain Discus

Before Buying Discus. If you want to keep Discus in your home, there are some things you should prepare in advance, including:

1. Prepare to have your tank clean and sterilize.

2. Fill your tank with water up to 10cm from the surface.

3. Give the filter hanging, with his cotton. And immediately you run.

4. Give the heater if the temperature is cold in your area. 28 degrees is fine.

5. You can buy a new Discus now.

6. For tank size 100 X 50 X 50, you can keep 10 to 15 Discus.

7. Choose the Discus with a round shape.

8. Choose healthy Discus. usually it will sound active, and when you raised your hand and pretend to feed, the healthier they will be directly over the surface of the tank. Hereinafter you will choose them. The less agile and less healthy generally hard to thrive.

In my experience many years, the best way is to buy directly into the Discus breeder, or also to the pet store that you trust. Take your passion for direct purchase Discus as tempted by the colors have appeared, although it still sized Discus 1-2 inches. Usually, 1-2 Discus-inch size but the color was already out because the owner has given dyes that have been added to Discus foods that will issue the original color prematurely. This will result in Discus can not develop properly and will cause infertility and stunted Discus.

Choose natural Discus without stout out the color. Discus color will come out by themselves later on after the age of approximately 7 months and without the need for drug coloring. So make sure you know for certain types of Discus parent, then you do not have to worry about the color that has not come out before his time. It would be more satisfied if you own a direct view of the development of small to become an adult and a good color right?

How To Breed The King

We recommend that you do not buy the Discus that have been sized to 6 inches above, because Discus are already large, are sold at the pet store, had passed the fertile period and will not be able to reproduce again. Unless you are going to put Discus grown as ornaments in the tank containing water plants. Because according to my experience and my friends, Discus is still under development, should not be raised in a tank containing water plants, because the Discus will be difficult to grow, aka hampered its development. Do not know why, maybe the experts will be able to explain it.

How To Breed The King

I have a method that arguably different from other people and in books about Discus. I maintain 20 Discus, in a tank measuring 175cm x 60cm x 70cm which has a good strain, Red Melon, because I think keeping Discus strains that have good or as common as Turquoise, would equal just to feed and care for her. I let them grow up in a way that the treatment I have ever written. And do not forget to maintain water quality, because water is the key to breeding Discus. If you keep Discus from an early age, then you are likely to breed success 90%, other 10% is luck. Back to the discussion,,, After a 10-month-old Discus, they will begin to enter the fertile phase, and will find their partner. Will be seen by you, Discus are trying to find a partner, he'll look like a salute to the partner. And if you're feeling fit, the couple will find a place to lay their eggs. Immediately transfer them to a breeding tank? I replied, NOT YET! They are not necessarily completely true partner, could have both a female, but they still will lay eggs and of course the eggs will not hatch because no one was fertilized.

Let them find a place and lay eggs, and you have to keep watching. Normally fertile couples will find a place such as a pipe filter or it may be in the glass, to lay their eggs. And before you put the eggs, they will clean the place alternately. In this situation, Discus will require more food supply than usual because Discus lot of energy to it, so you try to feed a portion slightly different than usual. And after Discus lay their eggs, they will protect it from other Discus threat to eat their eggs. And the time within 2 X 24 hours, if the eggs change color to black, then they are true partners and Congrats to you!!! But if the eggs are turning white and like moldy, then you do not be disappointed, so be it. Discus me, for the first time also did not lay eggs, and I felt a little disappointed. Then the interval of 1 week, the couple began to clean the pipe again and placed their eggs. Then what happens after 2 X 24h,,, the eggs turn black as a sign that they are the true couple!!! Congrats to me :-p...

After that, I move the pair into the breeding tank I had prepared earlier. Remember the water temperature and composition should be similar to the one in a big tank, so I took the water in a large tank and transferred to the breeding tank. Within 1 week, the fry will begin to swim and find food. They will eat the mucus in the body of the mother. Amazing is not it? And in this phase, the water is very important changes, but change the water not too much, just 10% only, because the fry are still in a vulnerable situation and had not stabil.lalu after 2 weeks of age since hatching, the fry will look bigger, and may be additional food such as Artemia. The fry are starting to eat Artemia, his stomach will look yellow. You've entered the next stage of development of Discus. Congratulations!
